Spring 2024 Schedule

  • (03/11, 5-6 PM) Presentation by Alex Kokot. In this talk, we will build on the kernel thinning framework, extending it to coreset problems for non MMD divergences, with entropic optimal transport (particularly the sinkhorn divergence) being our motivating example. Along the way, we introduce basic key properties of entropic optimal transport, and expose how they relate to an implicit dimension reduction induced by this smoothing of the Wasserstein distance. Hybrid in CS&SS Conference Room (Padelford Hall lower level) or via Zoom link here

  • (02/26, 5-6 PM) Presentation by Prof. Marina Meila. Some notes [incomplete] here (white on black) and here (no black bg). Hybrid in CS&SS Conference Room (Padelford Hall lower level) or via Zoom link here

  • (02/12, 5-6 PM) Alex Kokot will be presenting some of his own research. Hybrid in CS&SS Conference Room (Padelford Hall lower level) or via Zoom link here
